How to Write a Winning Used Phone Listing That Sells Fast
How to Write a Winning Used Phone Listing That Sells Fast
Your listing title and description are the first things buyers see. A winning listing gets clicks. A poor listing gets ignored. This guide teaches you how to write listings that sell fast.
The Perfect Listing Title Formula
Your title is the most important part of your listing. Buyers scroll quickly. Your title must catch their attention.
The formula: Brand + Model + RAM + Storage + Key Feature + Condition
Examples:
- Samsung Galaxy A36 5G – 6GB/128GB – Like New with Box
- Realme Narzo 90 Pro – 8GB/128GB – Excellent Condition – 67W Charger Included
- Vivo Y11d – 4GB/128GB – 6500mAh Battery – 1 Year Old – Mint Condition
What to Avoid in Titles
Do not use all caps (LIKE NEW SAMSUNG PHONE). This looks like spam. Do not use vague terms ("Phone for sale"). Be specific. Do not put price in title (prices change and can turn buyers away). Do not use emojis excessively (one or two is fine, five is too many).
The Perfect Listing Description Structure
Paragraph 1: Opening Summary
Start with a one-sentence summary of what you are selling. Example: "I am selling my Samsung Galaxy A36 5G in excellent condition. Only 8 months old."
Paragraph 2: Detailed Specifications
List all key specs clearly:
- Brand and exact model
- RAM and storage capacity
- Display size and type
- Processor (if known)
- Camera specifications
Paragraph 3: Condition Details
Be honest about condition. Describe any scratches, dents, or issues. "The phone has a minor scratch on the screen that is only visible when the screen is off. No other marks or damage."
Paragraph 4: Battery Health
Include battery health percentage. "Battery health is 87% according to AccuBattery app. Still lasts a full day of normal use."
Paragraph 5: Included Accessories
List everything included: original box, charger, cable, earphones, manuals, extra screen protectors, extra cases.
Paragraph 6: Warranty and Purchase Date
State when you bought the phone and if warranty remains. "Purchased November 2025. Official warranty expired but phone has no issues."
Paragraph 7: Reason for Selling
Buyers want to know why you are selling. Honest reasons build trust. "Selling because I upgraded to a newer model." or "Selling because I need cash for tuition fees."
Sample Winning Listing
Title: Samsung Galaxy A36 5G – 6GB/128GB – Like New – Full Box
Description:
I am selling my Samsung Galaxy A36 5G in like new condition. The phone is only 6 months old and has been in a case and screen protector since day one.
Specifications: 6.6 inch 120Hz Super AMOLED display, Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 processor, 6GB RAM, 128GB storage, 50MP OIS camera, 32MP selfie camera, 5000mAh battery.
Condition: The phone is in like new condition. No scratches, no dents, no issues. The screen protector has minor wear but the screen underneath is perfect.
Battery health: 94% according to AccuBattery app. Easily lasts a full day of heavy use.
Included: Original box, original 25W charger, original USB-C cable, SIM ejector tool, 3 spare screen protectors, and a Spigen case.
Purchase date: December 2025. No warranty remaining.
Reason for selling: I upgraded to the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
Price: 19,500 BDT (negotiable).
What to Avoid in Descriptions
Avoid lying about condition. Buyers will notice when they receive the phone. Avoid being too brief. "Phone is good" tells buyers nothing. Avoid using all caps. Avoid copying descriptions from other listings. Write your own.
The Honesty Advantage
Honest listings sell faster. Why? Buyers trust honest sellers. Trust leads to quicker decisions. Honest sellers also get fewer return requests and better ratings. Always disclose any damage, even small scratches.
How to Handle Negotiations
Set your asking price 5-10 percent above your minimum. This gives room to negotiate. When buyers make offers, respond politely. "Thank you for your offer. I was hoping for X price. Could you do Y?" Never get emotional about lowball offers. Simply say "No thank you" and move on.
