Key Specifications

Unboxing and First Impressions

The Tecno Pova 6 Pro comes in a striking blue and black box. Inside, you get the phone, a 70W charger, a USB-C cable, a SIM ejector tool, a protective case, and even a pair of wired earphones (rare these days!). The phone is large and heavy, as expected with a 6000mAh battery. The back has an eye-catching design with an "Arc Interface" - LED lights that glow for notifications and gaming.

Design and Build Quality

The Pova 6 Pro is a big phone, measuring 165.5 x 76.5 x 8.9mm and weighing 210g. The plastic back has a unique geometric pattern, and the Arc Interface LED lights add a gaming-centric aesthetic. The phone feels solid and well-built, though it's definitely not for one-handed use.

The Arc Interface on the back includes LED strips that light up during gaming, for notifications, and when charging. It's similar to Nothing's Glyph Interface but more gaming-focused.

The phone is available in two colors: Comet Green and Meteorite Grey.

Display

The 6.78-inch 120Hz AMOLED display is impressive for this price. With 1080 x 2436 pixels resolution (FHD+), 120Hz refresh rate, and up to 1300 nits peak brightness, it's bright, smooth, and vibrant. The punch-hole cutout houses the 32MP front camera.

Display highlights:

• 120Hz refresh rate for smooth scrolling
• AMOLED panel with deep blacks
• HDR10 support
• In-display fingerprint sensor

Performance

The Dimensity 6080 processor is a capable entry-level 5G chip. It handles daily tasks like browsing, social media, and video streaming smoothly. The 8GB or 12GB RAM options ensure good multitasking.

Performance test results:

• AnTuTu score: Approximately 400,000-430,000
• Geekbench 6 single-core: ~750
• Geekbench 6 multi-core: ~2,200

Gaming performance is decent. BGMI runs at 40-50 FPS on smooth graphics, and casual games run flawlessly. The phone stays cool thanks to Tecno's cooling system.

Camera

The 108MP main camera is capable in good lighting, and the 32MP front camera takes excellent selfies.

108MP Main Camera

The 108MP sensor with f/1.9 aperture captures good photos in daylight. Details are sharp, and colors are vibrant (typical of Tecno). Low-light performance is average, with some noise.

2MP Macro and Depth Cameras

The 2MP macro camera is basic, and the 2MP depth sensor helps with portrait mode. These are standard for budget phones.

32MP Front Camera

The 32MP front camera is excellent for selfies, capturing good detail and natural skin tones. Portrait mode works well.

Battery Life - The Main Highlight

The 6000 mAh battery is enormous and provides exceptional battery life - up to 2-3 days of moderate use.

Battery test results:

• Video playback: 22+ hours
• Web browsing: 16+ hours
• Gaming: 8-9 hours
• Mixed usage: 2-3 days

The 70W fast charging is impressive for such a large battery. It takes about 15 minutes to reach 40% and about 50 minutes for a full charge.

Charging test results:

• 0 to 50%: 20 minutes
• 0 to 100%: 50 minutes

Software - HiOS 14

The Pova 6 Pro runs Android 14 with Tecno's HiOS 14. HiOS is feature-rich but comes with bloatware and ads that can be turned off. It has gaming-focused features like the Arc Interface customization and a dedicated gaming mode. It's not as polished as One UI or OxygenOS, but it gets the job done.

Connectivity

The phone supports dual 5G SIMs, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, and has a 3.5mm headphone jack (a rarity!).
